Q & A with the Bride
Can you remember how you felt the morning of your wedding? What was your first thought when you woke up?
I felt like a kid on Christmas. I was so excited!
What were your first impressions of each other when you met?
Josh and I remember that day very well. We both loved each other’s energy!
What aspect of your day was most important to you when planning your wedding?
We wanted our guests to feel our genuine love for each other, and to have fun!
What were the personalized components of your day?
We asked our brother-in-law, Matt, to officiate our wedding and he did a fantastic job! He made us laugh and shared tender moments to the rhythm of “it's tricky” by Run DMC. We wrote our own vows and the music we selected was really personal to us.
Looking back on your day, what was your most memorable moment?
Walking in and seeing Josh’s face, full of emotion. It melted my heart.
Did anything surprise you?
Josh surprised me by writing a message in Spanish that he read to my grandmother.
What memory of each other on your wedding day stands out the most in your mind?
When we saw each other for the first time that day.
What aspect of your wedding day was the most unique?
Our guests said it felt intimate, special, and was the most fun wedding they had attended-it was unique because that feedback was consistent from several of our guests.
Is there anything you would do differently?
Not a thing.
If you could choose one favorite photo from your day, which photo would that be?
That’s a hard choice. We had so many favorites! The one of Athea and Liz laughing, the one showing us sharing our tender moments and giggles, the one of Josh and Ben embracing, the ones of us dancing and having a blast.
Tell us about your wedding dress.
I absolutely love my dress! It was sexy, simple, elegant, and just gorgeous.
Tell us about the venue you chose and why you chose it.
We thought the Broderie room at Phipps was simply exquisite! We both fell in love with it and the decision was simple! The afterparty at SLATE was also a slam dunk. The character of that space oozed what we both love and that was also a very easy decision for us. SLATE felt intimate, distinct, elegant and fun.
What was the most important thing to you when planning your wedding?
That we did not lose sight of the two of us and our love for each other. It was very important to both of us that we stayed focused on how we wanted our special day to occur and we were so thrilled that we did that.
After the wedding, what turned out to be the most important thing to you?
That we both truly enjoyed every single minute and hour of the weekend, being present in the moment.
Do you have any advice for future wedding couples??
Try to really enjoy the days leading up to your wedding, the day itself, and really take the time to appreciate what you love about one another during the events. Your love will shine through.
